Alpha Glucosylrutin

Alpha Glucosylrutin, also known as Alpha-Glucosyl Rutin (α-glucosyl rutin) or Alpha-Glucosylrutin (AGR), is a derivative of the natural flavonoid compound rutin. It is produced through biotechnological methods by attaching one molecule of glucose to rutin via an α-glycosidic bond. This method has mild conditions and high specificity. This structural modification significantly improves rutin's poor water solubility, instability, and difficulty in skin absorption, making it an efficient, stable, and easily applicable top-tier cosmetic ingredient.

Rutin, also known as rutin, vitamin P is mostly derived from rutin leaves, tobacco leaves, dates, apricots, orange peels, tomatoes, buckwheat flowers, etc. It has excellent antioxidant, anti-allergic and stable pigment capabilities, but its solubility is low and its application range is limited. Alpha-Glucosyl Rutin is 12,000 times water-soluble than rutin. Alpha-Glucosyl Rutin is freed by the action of enzymes in the organism. Alpha-Glucosylrutin (AGR) has exceptional water solubility which is the most critical advantage Alpha-Glucosylrutin. Ordinary Rutin is almost insoluble in water, greatly limiting its application in cosmetics. The introduction of hydrophilic glucose groups significantly enhances its water solubility (up to >500g/L), making it easy to apply in various aqueous formulations, serums, and emulsions.

Alpha-Glucosylrutin (AGR) has extremely high stability. Ordinary Rutin is sensitive to light and heat, easily decomposing and becoming ineffective. The introduction of glucose groups acts like an 'umbrella', enhancing the molecular structure's stability, ensuring high activity throughout the formulation process and product shelf life, with better tolerance to UV light and heat environments.

Alpha-Glucosylrutin (AGR) has excellent skin absorption and bioavailability. Although the molecular weight increases after glycosylation, the balance between lipophilicity and hydrophilicity improves, and it may release active forms through glycosidase action on the skin, thus more easily penetrating the stratum corneum and being effectively utilized by the skin, with bioavailability far exceeding that of ordinary rutin.
